Our live, cohort-based programs have a completion rate of 94% (compared to self-paced courses that have rates as low as 3%). Our training always includes:

Engagement and Collaboration: When you learn something passively, there’s a 72% chance you’ll forget it. When you learn something actively (use it, answer questions about it, discuss it with others, etc.) there’s a 69% chance you’ll remember it. Our training equips leaders and managers with the essential skills they need to succeed. Management Foundations includes the first eight modules listed below, providing a strong foundation in effective management. For those ready to go further, Advanced Management builds on these skills and covers the final four modules. Each module includes a three-hour workshop and a one-hour coaching session, ensuring participants not only learn key concepts but also apply them in real-world situations.

Understand the distinctions between management and leadership, learn productivity techniques, and identify key skills necessary for success, focusing on strategy, systems, and people management.

Recruiting Top Talent (The Manager’s Role)

A bad hire can cost a company 3-10x that employee’s salary in lost time, training, and opportunity cost. Learn effective recruiting strategies to ensure new hires have both the attitudinal fit and the skills to be great team members.

Managing Employee Performance

Dive into practical approaches for onboarding new hires so they become productive quickly and stay motivated. Learn to manage and measure performance and how to handle progressive discipline and offboarding.

Setting Expectations and Delegation

Strong teams don’t happen by accident. Learn how to build and lead high-performing teams. Explore team dynamics, stages of team development, trust-building, and key management tools for improving collaboration and accountability.

Managing Change

Change is constant in business, and leaders must guide their teams through it effectively. This module covers best practices for managing change, communicating with clarity, overcoming resistance, and helping employees adapt to new processes and expectations.

Training Program Dates

We run three public cohorts of Management Foundations and Advanced Management each year. While we’re based in Vancouver and Victoria, BC, Canada, our training is available to leaders and managers worldwide. You can join a current cohort with late registration or secure your spot in an upcoming session.

Tara Landes

Founder

Tara Landes is the Founder of Bellrock and is based in Vancouver, BC. For over 25 years, Tara has helped more than 300 small business leaders solve complex operational challenges. A certified Change Management Practitioner (Prosci) and Licensed Influence Trainer (Cialdini Institute), she leads Bellrock’s management training programs and has guided hundreds of managers to greater confidence and capability. Tara has spoken for TEC Canada, MacKay CEO Forums, Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and The Buildings Show.

Tara earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. When Tara is not working with clients, she’s often aboard a boat in BC’s Gulf Islands, reading while her family hauls in prawns and crab.

Gabriel Dhahan

Gabriel (Gabe) Dhahan is the President of Bellrock and is based in Victoria, BC. Gabe is an experienced professional with many years working in a management consulting capacity. He is known for his broad knowledge and ability to explain complex concepts and ideas. He has worked with small business and family enterprise clients in construction, food services, digital marketing, distribution, and more. He is passionate about solving tough problems and enjoys working closely with leaders to achieve lasting, valuable change.

Before Bellrock, Gabe spent several years in technology and worked for a wide variety of small businesses. He earned his MBA from Royal Roads University, is a designated Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) through Family Enterprise Canada (FEC), and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF). Outside of work you can find Gabe playing with his kids and juggling parenting logistics like a game of Perfection.

Andrea Spiegel

Andrea has over 15 years of experience in operations leadership spanning multiple industries including entertainment, wellness, service, trades, and manufacturing. She excels at working with small- to medium-sized businesses to help them define long-term goals, identify gaps in current systems, and map out tangible strategies for sustainable growth.

Prior to joining Bellrock, Andrea worked in operations management roles in a variety of professional environments and has worked with multiple start-ups to scale their businesses. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) from the University of Calgary, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Mission Possible, a Vancouver charity on the Downtown Eastside dedicated to transforming lives through meaningful work. When she’s not working, you can find Andrea in the mountains around Squamish, hiking, camping, or skiing.

Felix Vallieres

Felix Vallieres is a Management Consultant with Bellrock and is based in Victoria, BC. Felix has a background in organizational development and change management. By connecting practical strategy with the human side of work, he helps leaders and teams communicate more effectively, navigate change with confidence, and align people, culture, and systems. His work is grounded in the belief that real growth takes courage, the kind that lets us stay open, steady, and intentional in whatever we do.

Before joining Bellrock, Felix worked with public and private sector clients across Canada on projects focused on organizational effectiveness and change readiness. He earned his Master’s in Change Management from the University of Sherbrooke and is a Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Outside of work, you’ll find him exploring Vancouver Island’s trails and sharing good food and conversation.

Marie Mew

With over 15 years of experience in operations and people leadership across retail, wellness, fitness, and technology, Marie takes a sustainable, scalable approach to building systems and supporting teams. Marie partners with business owners to develop values-aligned operations, financial practices, and project management frameworks that enable strategic execution.

Before Bellrock, Marie held senior operations roles where she guided organizations through transitions and led high-performing, cross-functional teams. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia. In her personal time, you can find Marie running through BC’s mountains, practising Pilates, or obsessively finishing a puzzle while catching up with friends and family.

What level of leader or manager gets the most out of this training?

Management is like an artichoke. So many layers and some are really spiky! Our training programs are designed to meet the learner where they’re at in terms of their leadership and management experience. We’ve bundled Management Foundations and Advanced Management so that participants progress through the essential management skills before jumping into advanced practices. Either can be taken on their own but we find participants get the most out of our training by taking both sequentially.

What makes this training unique?

We go beyond just theory and the classroom by helping participants implement what they learn and build capacity in their organization. During our 1:1 coaching sessions, individuals learn how to overcome their specific management challenges so that the results stick.

Is it online or in person?

All of our public classes have been painstakingly designed to deliver the best experience online. Everything we do is live (not pre-recorded) so participation is required. While we’re based in Vancouver and Victoria, BC, Canada, the online nature of our programs allows us to deliver training globally. Further details are released during intake.

How much time does it take?

Workshops are three hours per month and one-on-ones are one hour per month. Ideally, you will also spend time reviewing and using the content in your daily management practice to reap the most value from those four hours. For those that sign up to both Management Foundations and Advanced Management, this means you get an incredible twelve months of workshop training and individualized support.

What If I Miss A Class?

The sessions are not recorded. However, if you miss one you can join another time. In fact, as a graduate you can come back to any class at no cost to you. We love welcoming returning students who are refreshing their knowledge.

How Much Does It Cost?

$5,495 CAD + GST per participant when both programs are registered for as a bundle ($500 savings).

Management Foundations is $3,995 CAD + GST per participant and Advanced Management is $1,995 CAD + GST per participant when taken as standalone programs.

What Is Your Refund Policy?

We are confident that our training will make a meaningful impact in your professional role and we would love the opportunity to address any concerns about the value of it. If a participant chooses to withdraw from training and they do so before the second module begins, we offer a full refund. We don’t charge for time. We charge for results.

Is Financial Assistance Possible?

Yes! Many businesses are eligible for financial assistance via grant programs. For participants in Canada, the Canada Job Grant is available in several provinces. For example, under the B.C. Employer Training Grant program (BC ETG) guidelines, eligible employers may receive up to 80% of eligible training costs, up to a maximum of $10,000 per participant per fiscal year. Please contact us for more details.

Can I get continuing education (CE) credits?

Our program modules often qualify for continuing education (CE) credits but it depends on your professional association. We can provide proof of training and other information as needed.

Do you offer leadership training?

Our Advanced Management training modules are geared more for leaders as well as managers who are increasingly responsible for executing on their organization’s vision. That said, the skills taught in Management Foundations are often just as applicable to leaders as they are to managers so it’s a helpful prerequisite prior to taking Advanced Management.

As shown on this page, we recommend taking both programs as a bundle, which makes it a full year of remarkable classroom instruction and 1:1s. Registering for both as a bundle also makes it easier if you’re applying for grant funding.

Do You Offer Private Training?

We offer private training on a case-by-case basis for larger organizations that want to run sessions exclusively and/or would like to customize the curriculum.

For organizations who wish to participate in our public programs but would like additional support for their teams, we can provide facilitated debriefs to help implement the learning from each module in addition to the 1:1s that are already included.

Are classes recorded for later viewing?

The sessions are not recorded as we know that live participation results in significantly better results.

If you miss a class, you can join one another time. In fact, as a graduate you can come back to any class at no cost to you. We love welcoming returning students who are refreshing their knowledge.
